Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Elk Mountain Range in the heart of the spectacular Gunnison Valley, Mt. Crested Butte, home of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, lies a just 3 miles east of the Town of Crested Butte - once a turn-of-the-century mining camp. Crested Butte is known as a skier’s mountain – the place where anyone can find the right challenge, ranging from the resort’s innovative QuickStart beginners’ program, to inviting intermediate bowls and non-threatening glades, and the double-black diamond Extreme Limits, the finest adventure skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Voted best steeps, best snow, and best groomed corduroy in Colorado, the ski area is the go-to place for all serious skiers.

In summer, mountain bikers love Mt. Crested Butte for its downhill trails, aspen groves, and lift access. You can take your bike up the lift, or if you’re feeling tough, ride the trails up. Winding all over the mountain, the trail system offers something for riders of all abilities.

A free ski and shuttle service runs every 15 minutes between Mt. Crested Butte and the Town of Crested Butte, so once you’re done on the mountain, you can take in the historic feel and Old West charm of one of Colorado largest National Historic Districts.

The resort is located in Colorado’s southwestern mountains, a little over 3 hours from Colorado Springs and 4 �; hours from Denver and Denver International Airport. Crested Butte may be (a little) off the beaten path, but that’s why we like it!
